Design in Harmony: Custom Solutions for Elevated Living

Here’s why your cook space needs one.

Don’t Hide It

In some homes, the scullery design is purely functional—even nondescript. Here, Aaron Mollick, principal and founder of Studio AM, did the opposite: He created a scullery so elegant that he spotlighted it in the kitchen.

“The arched nook was something we created intentionally as part of the kitchen expansion—we wanted to honor the home’s original northeast-facing arched window in the sitting room—so we echoed that shape with arched openings throughout,” he explains. “Keeping the window was essential. Without a door on the scullery, it stays open and airy, which means things can be left out without looking messy, and it doesn’t interrupt the visual flow of the space.”

Founded in 1965 with a focus on magnetic shielding, Amuneal Manufacturing has since evolved into a leading provider of custom design solutions, partnering with architects and designers to engineer, fabricate, and install bespoke elements for residential spaces. In collaboration with Amuneal, we created a series of custom, luxurious design features for a downtown Seattle high-rise.

Our clients’ request was clear: no fixed, opaque walls that would obstruct their near-360-degree views. In response, we designed elegant brass and glass partitions, along with furniture-grade headboard screens, to define spaces while maintaining an open, unobstructed feel. Amuneal also crafted a custom desk skirt and an intricate light fixture, inspired by the fluidity and rhythm of music notes, adding a touch of artistic sophistication to the design.
